Just a few Updates on Iowa voting laws, based on recent changes by Kim Reynolds:
- Voter Roll Verification: The Secretary of State’s office can now contract with government agencies and private entities to verify voter records.
- Citizenship Verification: The Department of Transportation is required to send the Secretary of State’s office a list of individuals who have indicated they are not citizens.
- Challenged Voters: Registered voters can be challenged at the polls regarding their citizenship status and may need to provide proof to cast a regular ballot.
- Ban on Ranked-Choice Voting: Ranked-choice voting, also known as instant runoff voting, is now prohibited in Iowa elections at all levels.
- Election Recount Limits: New limits have been set on who can request election recounts, based on the percentage difference in votes between candidates.
